Has this scanner become an anchor Does that make and HP product viable for the future. I have not looked to see if they have added an update or not since my Epson works great. I still have my HP scanner hoping they might get things together but my guess is they just want to obsolete products so I have to spend more money. Hp Scanjet G4010 Scanner And Software Support Software To RecognizeUnfortunately I upgraded from OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard to OS X 10.9 Mavericks cannot get the new software to recognize my scanner. I downloaded the HP website solution to update the driver Image Capture (HPScanjetv1.3.0.dmg), your recommended solution. I installed both, the G4010 shows up on the Image Capture device menu but it keeps waiting for scanner. I tried using VueScan 3rd party software with the same results. I thought about buying a new scanner but none I could find support Mac OS X10.9. I do have a Kodak ESP 7250 All-in-one Printer which has a scan function which does work with Image Capture but it wont help me with the slides or negatives. First, a word of advice I often get from my daughter, a software engineer, dont rush to do a system upgrade. What I did to resolve this problem was to take my computer to the Apple Store and they removed Maverick and replaced it with Mountain Lion at no cost to me. I had avoided all previous updates but my grandson, who works at Apple, said it was a great upgrade. I m OK to scan all the photos with it, but cant do the slides or negatives, it doesnt have the backlit lid inserts for doing this type of scanning. Maybe HP will have an upgraded driver by th time Im finished. I installed HPScanjetv1.3.0 driver, then plugged in the scaner and it worked. I use Image Capture 6.3 (502.1). Driver reports in system info: CUPS Version 1.7.1 (cups-372.2). Yet I have problems with scanning slides. I cannot make the scaner produce any sensible image at 1200 and higher DPI (result is all cyan), and 2. ![]() I brought it back to shop for replacement with an Epson Perfection V370. This latter scanner worked the same minute I have plugged it in. No driver mess, perfect colors up to maximum 6400dpi, fast. Wonderful. I regret having spent 2 days trying to get anything of the HP.
